Hermetically sealed prison mattresses for added security

Not all prisons have the same comforts, being able to find cells that look like four-star hotel rooms rather than places for confinement.
At the other extreme are the overcrowded cells that at first were temporary cells and that due to the lack of spaces in the prisons have remained as a place of confinement, detainees staying there for up to a year.
In moderately decent prisons, inmates occupy individual cells, although it is not the usual thing, they almost always tend to share a cell with another inmate due to temporary lack of accommodation or due to medical indications or the Observation and Treatment teams.
Sharing cells is a priori inconvenience because privacy and intimacy disappear, although on the other hand the benefits of being able to share problems with another person and a certain psychological encouragement will help the inmate to cope with his days of confinement in such a reduced space.
There are cells that include bunk beds to accommodate up to four inmates, in these cases privacy is more limited, for this they are equipped with fireproof security curtains for shared cells in prisons.

These curtains are manufactured to respond to the firefighting requirements that are requested in detention centers and penitentiaries. Its fabrics are designed to resist both the ignition and the spread of the flame of a fire.

But there is another fundamental characteristic that distinguishes them from normal curtains, is their high tensile strength, hence they are used to prevent possible tears and their manipulation for violent use.

To equip a prison cell with curtains, it is essential that the bunk beds have an integrated bar and hanging over it the curtain made of plastic eyelets, which are insertable and removable rings, also called magic eyelets. This curtain system mounts to prevent rods from dislodging and curtains from being used like ropes, while making it easy to remove and wash.

It has also been shown that maintaining a minimum of privacy among inmates is essential but at the same time difficult to understand as there is a contradiction between the denial of inmates in prison and the penitentiary legislation in its article 25.2 CE. In any case, you have to give privacy in moments like hygiene.

Hence, there are cells that integrate the showers with curtains using ceiling rails fastened with special screws, these fabrics being antibacterial, waterproof, anti-mold and at the same time fire retardant.

The reduction of privacy in the daily life of a prison is not new to anyone and it is only when the inmate remains in his cell with his solitude that more privacy is needed.
The use of shared bunk beds requires the use of privacy curtains, which immerse the inmate in their private and intimate world when the curtains are drawn, a veil that delimits their rest area, offering them a living space and some dignity.
