Hermetically sealed prison mattresses for added security

We could not be indifferent to such dramatic situations in which many countries’ prisons find themselves, that is why we have focused today on Peru and the deplorable state in which inmates coexist with one another.

In many countries, the overcrowding of prisons translates into subhuman conditions, the reduction of budgets and the appearance of increasingly sophisticated threats within a prison, mean that the optimization of the measures that guarantee the safety of both officials and the inmates themselves in prisons, is increasingly important and taken into account.

Among these measures is the incorporation of hermetically sealed prison mattresses and inseparable integrated pillow, in addition to their fire-retardant qualities.

One of our most requested units in terms of rest in the cells are the mattresses, which originally have an inviolable closure system, designed so that the inmates cannot manipulate it and is visible where appropriate during inspections by prison officials.

The reason for using this type of sealed anti-vandalism furniture is to prevent prisoners from using it to hide objects, such as punches, narcotic substances or micro-mobiles or miniature mobiles.

The prison system is different depending on the country, and in some cases it can be complex, deficient or quite the opposite, too ostentatious according to what opinions.

There are many examples of prisons, but in Peru, where many of its prisons are very precarious, there is a generalized overcrowding where minimum human rights, hygienic and security conditions are not respected. In this country we have the San Pedro jail, the largest in the country, but its capacity for 2,500 inmates is exceeded to the point that there are around 7,000 being held there today.

To avoid the problems derived from overcrowding in Peru’s prisons, new modules need to be built that house dignified and safe cells, giving rise to surreal situations, such as the overcrowding of inmates in Lurigancho, where it does not allow everyone to have a place to sleep. who do not have enough money to pay a rent are forced to pile old and obsolete foam rubber mattresses, which they will distribute in the corridors at nightfall.

For this, in addition to the fire-retardant mattresses for new prisons that are required, substantial improvements are needed to prevent their manipulation and avoid serving to make fire.

This type of special mattress for prisons also has the characteristic of integrating the pillow without the possibility of separating it, so that the inmates use them as a suffocation weapon.
